Junk. Save your money. New printer would not recognize properly loaded ink cartridges included with the new printer. Cartridge bay would not close properly. Poorly diagrammed multi-lingual setup instructions. Amazon does not accept direct returns on this item. You are required to call vendor directly, and you know what hassle THAT means. Instead of going through the usual time consuming charade, I am purchasing another brand, and throwing this printer in the trash. I would love to buy products from American companies. If this is the best we can do, I am terribly disappointed, both in Amazon and in Xerox.

First it tells you to view the installation video. When I click on it, an adobe pdf file opens, not a video.

The quick setup guide is all pictures. It makes a lot of assumptions that you may or may not deduce.

Nowhere does it tell you configure the printer’s IP address or how to do it.

All in all it should take about 15 minutes to setup. It took me hours to fight through the lack of information.

Then I tried to install it on my Vista machine. It comes up with a screen saying Searching for IP based printers. It has been doing it for an hour now.

Really not loving this install. 5 more PCs to go. NOT FUN!

  3. There are so many decent or better options out there, I cannot imagine why anyone would suffer the problems that I have with this machine in my office. This printer gets a paper jam one out of 4 or 5 pages. It also signals an empty paper tray when there are still 20+ pages in the tray. Ugh. Using this printer is just an aggravation and I avoid making color documents as a result.

  4. The Xerox toner cartridges are rated at 500 pages, most toner cartridges are rated at 4000 to 8000 pages and the Xerox cartridges are more expensive! If you print a lot, the cost of toner will exceed the cost of the printer very quickly.

Though specifications do not always tell the whole story, the 6130 is rated at 600 x 600 dpi. Most printers exceed the horizontal specification by quite a bit (1600-9600 dpi).

I didn’t realize this printer would be as big as it is. So if you’re thinking of purchasing it, have enough room for it. The CD has a video you can watch to set it up or you can follow the diagrammed instruction sheet. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes to set it up.

I decided to hook it with my upstairs laptop that using the net via Wi-Fi. All you have to install the printer driver on the other computer and let the connection pick up the IP address and before you know it you’ll be printing from another room wirelessly. The Ethernet or USB cords do not come with the printer.

The quality of the printing is nice. The colors are crisp and it prints fairly quickly.

This would be a nice printer for a home based business or a small office.
