  1. THIS IS THE WORSE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A COMPANY THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE OF WORLD KNOWN. BUT SIRS, DON’T BELIEVE THEIR PROPAGANDA THIS MACHINE IN FIRST PLACE DOESN’T COMES WITH AN ON OFF SWITCH AND AFTER USING IT FOR ONLY 9 MONTHS, USING IT ONCE IN A WHILE FOR HOUSE NEEDS PURPOSES ONLY, IT SUDDENLY ONE DAY BURNED OUT, WITH SMOKE AND ALL. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP OF LICENSED BY THEM AND WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGE SO THAT THE COST OF REPAIR WAS ABOVE ITS PRICE.

I CALLED THE AGENCY FOR GUARANTEE REPLACEMENT AND FOUND THE VERY UNUSUAL FACT THAT THIS IS ONLY GUARANTEE FOR SIX SHORT MONTHS.

CONCLUSIONS: THIS IS A DEVICE THAT REPRESENTS THE PHILOSOPHY OF THIS COMPANY THAT IS TO SELL IMCOMPLETE ITEMS THAT ARE MORE EXPERIMENTAL THAN ANYTHING MAKING THE CONSUMER PAY FOR IT. REALLY THIS IS GARBAGE. THIS IS THE KIND OF INDUSTRIAL PIRATES THAT SHOULD VANISH IN THIS PRESENT WORLD SITUATION IN WHERE THE COMMODITIES ARE SO EXPENSIVE AND YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO TURN YOUR MONEY INTO GARBAGE. THOSE INDUSTRIES SHOULD BE STOPPED BY THE INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES THAT CARES ON ENVIROMENTAL AND CUSTOMER ISSUES.

  2. This printer is a piece of junk. The print jobs look like bad photocopies, and the scan jobs are hideous. I would never use this printer for professional materials like job letters or article submissions!

But the worst thing about this printer is its running cost. I just bought this printer a few months ago, and already I have to replace the drum, which runs around $100! I haven’t even made it through 2 toner cartridges yet !?! Seems a lot of people solve this problem by cleaning the drum themselves, but who wants to deal with toxic ink dust all over the place!?

To make matters worse, the drum is extremely rare and usually only available through online orders, which means you have to plan ahead–if not keep one in your own personal stock. Plus, I tried calling their customer service and could not get through. I left an email message and STILL haven’t heard back from anyone in customer support (It has been a week).

This is the worst printer I have ever had (and I remember the dot matrix days).

  3. I purchased this device. Received it in good time. Assembly and setup was easy. I have to say that HP is out of here. Great product and very professional.

  4. D. Artkowsky says:

Been using for a couple months now. Generally had good results but after trying to feed pages from the rear tray#2, it fed the whole stack and destroyed the drum unit which is 1/2 the cost of the unit itself.

Complaint #2 is this is not Linux capable, so if you have it networked with Linux machines, you will not be able to use this printer. I had to go to Best Buy and picked up a small Brother HL2140 to cover this issue…

  5. This machine won’t knock anyone’s socks off, and it’s not designed too. It is a typical all-in-one home office print/scan/fax/copy at an attractive price.

I could compliment the crisp copies, or logical button menus, or useful feature set, but these things have become unremarkable and standard on this type of machine these days (Apr 2009).

Consequently, the best thing you can say about any of these types of machines is that they work as advertised. This one does. I’d recommend it… or any of the dozen other machines with the same feature set, at this price point.
