I have a Lexmark C524 Laser Printer (pd $1000 on Lexmark website) that is 14 months old and the main system circuit board failed. Called Lexmark technical service and ended up speaking to someone in India who was hard to understand. I gave them the error code on the display and the serial #. They said I needed a new system board. I called Lexmark Parts and had one overnighted – $375. I brought it to a Lexmark certified technician who replaced the board but the error message would not go away and the printer would not work. The technician called tech service, again in India, who said the board needed to be relaced. Ordered another board and had it overnighted – $375. It still did not work. Lexmark offered no help. I gave up and sent both boards back FedEx Overnight so I could get my $750 refunded. Lexmark Parts said it would be refunded by my next billing cycle – what? Still waiting for refund. DO NOT BUY A LEXMARK – IT WILL NOT LAST VERY LONG. The main circuit board (Made in China) shouldn’t fail 2 month after the warranty expires.
This printer is only good for xp/vista. It is on the box as it works for older printes but when you open box, only cd for xp/vista. They advertise a website, but it no longer exist. When contacting Lexmark, It’s tough luck, get over it. Advised that Windows won’t allow them to support the older version. This is wrong of Lexmark and Windows if this is correct. They should stand up and make things right.. They are the ones who are advertising this incorrectly…… support should be there, as long as, item in still being sold….SHAME SHAME LEXMARK!! I do not support the purchase of Lexmark products.. Lexmark is not doing what’s right. Bad customer experience… after hours of searching was able to find on website, but not because of Lexmark.. Great piece of equipment. easy to setup the fax machine and the copier feature works fast.
However, if you have a mac and saw this as a great deal like I did, it’s not for you. I ended up returning it.
so disappointed that it’s not universally supported.
Having been thru MANY printers in 10+ years. I bought this 3 years ago. It is the first printer that has worked so well that I bought ink cartridges when the ink got low because I WANTED to continue to use it. It prints well from the computer. When we need to make a copy it is a great copier. It is the first printer that has not had issues with feeding paper consistantly. When I want to scan something into the computer it works well. I can’t ask any more of it and I am about to buy ink for it again because I am still happy with it.
well the first printer i got started smoking as soon as i turned it on and printed , but amazon came through and shipped me a new one the next day and this one works just great so everything is hunky dory…. whewwww
