I originally purchased this printer from a local brick & mortar store, and at the time was pleased with the price and the performance was initially decent. Mind you, the initial setup was on an older laptop running Windows XP.

While on XP, my biggest complaint was the printer is an ink HOG! We do very little printing at home, just stuff for the kids school reports, some home budgets, etc. No picture printing or other fancy art stuff. Really basic stuff and very occasional at best. But trust me, it loves the ink and you will go broke buying ink. Not to mention the fact buying online is not only cheaper, but much easier to find as local brick & mortar stores typically don’t carry the required cartridges.

Another smaller, but still valid, annoyance is the printer interface. Heaven forbid you have your speakers turned up and print as a lady-computer generated voice blares out PRINTING STARTED and then PRINTING FINISHED depending what phase of the job it is in. I know, seems very small, but print a few documents and see how annoying it becomes.

My real issues began to crop up when I bought a new laptop which came with an AMD x64 processor and Windows Vista. I set everything up just like I did when on XP, even went to the Lexmark site and downloaded the most updated printer driver so I could eliminate/avoid any potential problems. Wrong! The drivers will install and function but now the printer just “forgets” it is hooked up. The only way to re-sync it back with the network and computer is to turn on/off the printer & also reboot the computer. Then it will be good for a few days or however long until it decides to forget it exists again. I can’t determine any rhyme or reason to when it gets lost.

Also I noticed it continually pops up the registration reminder screen despite how many times you check the little box that says DO NOT REMIND ME AGAIN!

I am a fairly tech savvy person and don’t mind complex items. However, between the fact this printer HOGS ink, replacement cartridges are expensive (about $30 each), won’t work & stay sync’d properly with Vista and the product registration screen won’t go away leaves me believing this product is true GARBAGE!!!

I am not really sure if this is a model specific problem or just Lexmark in general, as this is the first Lexmark product I’ve owned. I do know I am so frustrated and put out with it that it will be the last Lexmark product I ever purchase, especially when I have a wireless Epson NX515 that works like a dream at my work place and ink is about 1/2 the cost and it doesn’t run out as fast either where I actually use it more.

After multi problems with another printer, this one is “user friendly” Did require tech support for set up, but have flown solo since. My only problem and probabley no fault of the printer, is that more often then not, I have to umplug then replug, both my router and my DSL modem in order for printer to do it’s job..Lexmark X6575 Professional – Multifunction ( fax / copier / printer / scanner ) – color – ink-jet – copying (up to): 24 ppm (mono) / 23 ppm (color) – printing (up to): 28 ppm (mono) / 24 ppm (color) – 100 sheets – 33.6 Kbps – Hi-Speed USB, 802.11b, 802….

  3. Many have complained that this product doesn’t change fax ring auto pickup and that it uses too much ink. I have to say, first of all the ink that comes with it is a trial cartridge that contains less ink than normal cartridges. Secondly RTFM ( read the f****** manual). I have gone through every function and setting available on this machine and it works beautifully. And duplex printing on a machine this inexpensive! HP doesn’t even have a similar function in this price range. The HP Duplex module for my inkjet 6800 costs more than this all in one did. Five stars, a great product.
