Since My cheap old printer went psych on itself and died, I went to look for new yet with much more functions. I was fascinated by this printer’s function and finally gave in myself to lust on this one.
PROS
* Great speed(maximum 22page/min)…. very very fast, I mean blazing speed! for this inkjet class printer. Especially black and white print does it seem to stream itself like a river.
* The software called all-in-one-center has centrally conducive interface and from initial pane, every functions are one click away and they are fabulous interface. In another word, novice friendly but geek taunting(For geeks, it would look like kindergarten’s coloring book). But for me I’m very happy with this graphic dominating interface. Especially I first would have to decide what to do(either scan, print, fax, or photo print), then one or 2 more click to further specify what I want to do next. I made a mistake in resizing photo when printing border-less photo, but I quickly learned in 3rd time “drag-and-drop” picture to 4×6 size, it printed out border-less nice photo.
* Without PC function…. This is great too if you bother to turn on PC every time do anything with this printer. This printer functions as standalone scanner/faxing machine(For fax you have to turn on PC) and pushing button either color/black and white to copy. It would take some time and not function like laser fax machine, this copy things as they print out things. Button are located so that even novice can not miss what they are and they are devoid of accessory buttons thus making novice user unconfused.
CONS
* obviously certain models of Canon/Epson print much better quality pictures especially if they are photo printers. You would see some stripes smeared over pictures if looked closer, and naturally photo exclusive ink should be used for a perfect print. But if you print photo for occasionally and don’t mind not-so-perfect pictures, it prints out decent pictures. For me as an unprofessional photographer, it is more than tolerable to make somebody grin their faces when giving their photos.
* They are famous or rather ‘infamous’ ripping you off with super-expensive cartilages, but if you look for elsewhere in EBay provided having paypal account, cheap deals could be found.
Besides, these cartilages are one of the easiest kind to refill the ink, they don’t have to drilled to make a hole but they already have holes under plastic commercial label.
* Sometimes printer leaves leak of blank ink after printing border-less photo. This smudges go away in an hour or after printing few pages, but remember that they stain a black ink , a size of your thumb after photo print.
Overall, someone like me who use printer for my studies and job application, and giving away photos, this is more than decent printer.
But remember, Lexmark always suffers quality on their product meaning you don’t how long they last. My old lexmark lasted almost 1 and half years, if you think it’s sufficient, go for it.
