I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE ITEM AND WILL GET A LOT OF USE OUT OF IT. SETUP AND PRINT WASVERY EASY.
Since circuit city is the ONLY place I can by cartridges for this printer, I just want to know where I am going to buy them now that circuit city is closing all stores???? Any info will be helpful.
Purchased this item for a steal from ebay (new in box). I found out why it was so cheap…. a little after the fact investigation and I learned that this item was ONLY (that is EXCLUSIVELY) sold by circuit city (now going out of business) as a package deal to sweeten some computer packages. Other than Ebay and Amazon you have to purchase the expensive cartridges from either ….yup…. circuit city or Lexmark. This is just some background… now to the personal experience… Decent printing, if you can get it to print. Decent scanning if you can get it to scan. Decent Copying, if you can get it to copy. After searching for days I finally found a software patch download on the lexmark website to supposedly alleviate having to uninstall and reinstall the printer before each use. This did improve performance. My printer would now work if the computer went to sleep mode and i woke it up to print something. However, no fix if you actually shut down or hibernate- you still have to play the install game. Like I said…. everything was great about this printer WHEN IT WORKED!!! Buyer beware.
I won’t spend long here echoing what most of the others here have already said.
This came bundled with an HP laptop I bought at Circuit City ( HP Pavilion DV6426US 15.4-inch Laptop (Intel Core Duo Processor T2450, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium) ) and I needed a scanner for old photos. That it was a stand alone copier just made the deal even sweeter. Or so I thought.
It isn’t until you set it up do you realize they didn’t send a black ink cartridge with it. You have to buy one. And then you find out that they are dedicated cartridges, only available through Circuit City or Lexmark. AND then you find out how much they are.
My use now will only be as a scanner to scan old print photos into my computer and then print out using my other printer.
So, along with the others here, I recommend don’t even considering buying this one. There are plenty out there to chose from that are better overall deals, better quality, and their companies ethics don’t smell quite as bad as those of Lexmark/Circuit City.
The printer ink will now be sold at staples and lexmark.com due to circuit cities closing.
