I have had this machine a while now, and it has served me well and good–absolutely, no complaints. The price is right (as compaed to those other pricey brands that do the same job more or less). So, go get yourself one–recommended!
Like the other reviewer said, this piece of junk wastes sooooooo much ink doing a completely unnecessary “alignment” page every time you do something except straight photocopying. The scanner function doesn’t work properly and the print quality sucks! I am so disgusted with this machine I want to throw it in the trash. It should be called a multi-MALfunction printer!!!
Don’t waste your money, get something that actually does a decent job!!!
$[...] for real???? Must be joking when I saw this price on amazon… My brother brought this printer at [...] online special for $[...] and let me tell you he got what he pay for, a peace of usable junk… I say usable because it was once usable for about 30 pages of texts.. the ink cartridge is what surprises me because the color cartridge came with the printer not the black. The ink cartridge are 3 color in one.. That mean when you actually use yellow more than the rest you will have to buy another cartridge that have three colors in one(isn’t that ridiculous)… That’s why I went online to buy some lexmark ink refill and let me tell you that was a waste of money as well because once I refill the cartridge exactly the way was told, the printer still couldn’t tell any difference and won’t print. I think the little chip under the cartridge is the reason for this… so I have no hope to refill the cartridge and went to walmart for a ink replacement.. and can you guess what … the color ink cartridge cost the same or more than the printer itself…ridiculous…
By the way the prints are terrible but readable.. I’m talking about text.. the picture on the other hand are insane.. You can actually see lines left from printing… But it does print pretty fast.. I’m thinking about the Epson Stylus NX515.. it will cost me about $[...] but I guess I will get better out of printing than the lexmark ever will….
We bough our Lexmark x2500 printer primarily because it promised to be a good choice economically. We were mistaken.
The printer is an ink sink. When you put in a new ink cartridge, you are always required to print an “alignment” page. This page is supposed to make sure he printer is printing correctly, and it is not optional. HUGE waste of ink. We are required to have a color ink cartridge in the printer, even though we never use color. Also, our printer went through a glitch phase where ever time we turned our computer off, it thought the printer needed to be “realigned” and made us print a new sheet. Not happy about that.
In addition, the software that comes with he printer leaves much to be desired. The layout and primer boxes are cartoon-like. Ever time you do a print job, a box pops up, and if you’re anywhere near low on your ink cartridge, it obnoxiously asks you if you want to order more ink “right away.” It’s an advertising gimmick, and I can’t change my settings to take the thing away.
Scans well. Prints well. Hardware is great. Software is infinitely annoying.
