  1. I got this to replace an Epson inkjet that worked well, but was not wireless. In that respect it is a success. The print quality is fine – basic inkjet quality. The wireless function works across my house. I suppose it works anywhere you can access your wireless network.

I had some confusion installing it. There is plenty of notice to run the CD before you try to connect to the printer and I obeyed that (and had no problems at all connecting wirelessly). My problem was that I tried to install the ink cartridges before I connected. As someone who has installed a dozen or more printers, I was accustomed to doing the basic set-up first: remove packaging and tape and installing the ink. I ran into problems with this as the print head (plastic cartridge that holds the ink) was not installed and did not fit into the area that it was obviously supposed to go into. I called the help line and, after more than 5 minutes and two support people, learned that there is a cover/bracket that needs to be released to hold the print head. This was covered in the set-up disk, but was not in the set-up instruction sheet (but ink installation was).

Oncre I got everythig installed it worked well. Although I don’t refill cartridges, I was disappointed to learn that the option would not be available to me with this model and have rated it a little lower in the usage/cost catagory for that reason.

There is nothing about this printer that really wows me, but I think it is a good, moderately priced wireless inkjet.

Just purchased a month ago. Mainly use for faxes and copies. Works great so far, easy to set up.

This review will be short for two reasons – 1) It don’t take a lot of space to say, “I love this printer!” and 2) I’m not real computer literate, so I can’t get very technical.

I found the printer to be an outstanding value, and still is: Lexmark Prospect Pro205 Wireless 4-in-1 I found the ink cartridges to be much cheaper than those required for my old HP printer, and considering these last much longer I have no complaints with the pricing. I bought extra cartridges when I ordered my printer and the colors average cost $16.95 each, and black cartridge was $21.18. All were high yield cartridges and shipped free.

I installed the printer on my wife’s laptop. She is running Windows 7. The installation was a piece of cake, from printer set-up, through the network and fax installations. Not a single problem, took about 15 minutes from unpacking to printing.

However, when I installed the printer on my laptop, running the cursed Vista, that was a different issue. But I want to point out that the problems I had with my computer was totally a Vista Issue and had nothing to do with the Lexmark printer. It took about 40 minutes, of which 39 were very frustrating, primarily because everything went so smoothly with the other laptop/Window 7.

I haven’t used the printer a whole lot, but it is so superior to any of the other 10 printers (all HP’s) that I have had over the years, I love it now and don’t see my opinion changing.

Overall, in my opinion, it is a great value, it is very quiet, easy to operate, super quality printing, and when it is replaced it will be with another Lexmark.

Few things I like about the printer:

The included software is easy to install and has a great step-by-step walk-through to setup the printer. The wireless setup was very easy, I didn’t have to mess around with any of my router settings. I love the duplex printing feature and the ability to scan multiple pages through the automatic feeder. The ability to use high yield ink cartridges and the five year warranty are also a great bonus.

I just purchased this to replace a similar HP 4 in 1 model that was about 4 years old. The construction and ease of use is great. It’s probably not fair to compare a 4 year old HP to a brand new Lexmark but after owning several HP’s I think I am now sold on Lexmark. For under [...] it’s hard to go wrong and would highly recommend for someone looking for a light use 4 in 1.
