This is an initial review. I can’t tell you how the printer does because I can’t get it to function. First, it caused my battery back up/surge protector to turn itself off. Then I tried several times to uninstall and reinstall the driver. While my PC (running XP) can detect that there’s a printer, there’s no communication. I keep getting the message that it needs a certain DLL file. Can’t find it. Their website is no good. I wrote them an email so hopefully, I’ll be able to edit this. Keep in mind I’m not your average computer user. While I’m not an engineer, I’ve done my fair share of installations, upgrading, troubleshooting, etc… If anyone who read this knows the solution, please feel free to share it. I got this printer for a great price but it does no good if it won’t work.

UPDATED REVIEW: I now use a parallel printer cable and love this printer. While it does take time to warm up (unlike inkjets) I never have to worry about ink drying up like I did with inkjet printers. It prints nicely most of the time and it saves money on ink in the long run. I have stopped buying inkjet printers (unless I can get a fabulous deal or want it for photo printing) and have completely switched to laser). The prices are dropping and “regular” consumers can now have access to them.

After having owned the 2200 version of the Minolta Color series, I was very pleased with the product. Naturally, I assumed a newer model would be at least as proficient as an older model – never have I been more incorrect!

I purchased 2 of the 2300W printers on March 5, and after spending countless hours on the phone with Tech Support, and having one of their reps confirm that their drivers are “questionable” – 20 days later I am boxing both printers back up and returning them!

Moral – Newer is not always better!!

Note that the 2300W driver will not work with NT 4.0 !!! But, if you buy the 2300DL for $100 more, the driver software that comes with the 2300DL will support NT. Installing the 2300DL driver for NT does not allow you to print over LPT1 via cable to the 2300W printer – you get “error – wrong printer”. The only solution is to upgrade the computer’s OS to W2k or XP. Color photo output on plain paper only. Color quality is good – tested from XP Pro via USB. Suits my needs and am keeping the printer.

You’ve got to yank out the paper to print an envelope! What were they thinking (apparently, they weren’t).

We’ve had this printer for our small business for about 6 months now. At first it seemed like a dream other than how noisey it is and how long it takes to warm up. Then we started having problem after problem with it and to this day it gives us trouble. Their telephone support is great, but we shouldn’t have to call them as often as we do. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
