This printer has worked very well for me so far. The set up was easy, the print speed is fast and it looks good to.
Had a 7780. It was a piece of junk.
8500 premier by far the best printer in class.
After reading several reviews we ordered this printer. I must say it surpassed our expectations…it was noisier than expected and shook more than we expected! Both had been listed in other reviews as cautions.
We wanted a more durable printer after going through numerous “throwaway”printers. I find this unit to be well built and has a high capacity. I like that we can send files wirelessly to print.
The color image is lesser quality than I expected. I assume there are things I can do to improve that or perhaps we just have bad cartridges. I must admit I missed the “shake several times” note on the print cartidge. Once it was in I was fearful of removing it and shaking an open cartidge. Read carefully all of the setup notes!
Black and White seems to have good contrast and prints quickly.
I was in the market for an all in one for my dental office. We print a moderate amount each month and I knew going into this that I needed something efficient. I had my mind set on a laser but two different stores talked up this “NEW” inkjet technology. They claimed it was more efficient and was quicker then a laser. It appeared to be, considering black ink was only 35 bucks and it claimed it lasted over 2000 prints. I ended up buying it. The first discouraging thing was that this unit may have cheap “ink”, but you also have print heads that I can only assume are expensive (even though it may not need replacing that often). It reminds me of my old laser that needed new drums after a years worth of toner to the tune of 3 times what the printer costs. Once I set this printer up I had immediate problems with the driver. I also soon found out that the print speeds quoted on the box were in fact black and white speeds at the lowest quality settings. This was discouraging. Then I discovered the copy speed was very slow compared to my old laser all in one. On top of all of this, the driver was malfunctioning. As soon as I adjusted the printer to print all my prints in the lowest quality and b/w, the driver slowed way down and communication with the printer was very slow, plus slowed the whole computer down. I spent 3 days trying to troubleshoot this on 4 different computers and all the same result. HP support couldn’t figure it out either. Thankfully I purchased the protection plan from my store (staples)and they treated me like royalty when I took it back. That is one thing to consider. Printers these days are basically disposable. If you purchase a printer/copier/all in one that is over 300 bucks, by the protection plan, its worth it because it will only last you a year or two. After returning it, I then proceeded to purchase the laser equivalent for 50 bucks more and we will see what happens. I am very happy with my other HP lasers (printer only). They not only print fast once started, but the initial printing starts lightening fast, unlike this OfficeJet. Overall my story tells all, I ended up dropping the Office Jet like a bad habbit and I am very optimistic about my HP Laser.
