I thought I would be able to scan legal sized paper–wrong!

It has to be left on because it is very slow to do anything very quickly if turned off.The black print is very sharp. A good price of the features.

  2. I bought mine at Sams Club just in case I had to return it and I had to the very same day. I got it home, the outside looked like it had never been opened but it had been. The ink heads were missing and the black ink had been opened and resealed with scotch tape. I think HP has lots of returns and are recycling the things. So… back to the search for a good printer.

I would recommend this printer for small business/home use. HP also has great support staff

  4. This is a great printer. It was easy to set up and easy to use. We are a small company (20 people) and it handles everything we need from faxing to copying to printing. Its on a network of 3 computers. So far we love it. The only thing we don’t love is the price of the ink cartridges.. shop around.

I had an old HPpsc500 that lasted for years, despite the terrible support of HP the product worked great, so i bought another one, the 8500 based on reviews I saw online. so far the printer is great, its fast and does it all for a small home printer. The only negative I can see so far is the noise. when it is turned on it goes through a whole process of checking things and cleaning heads all the while clunking and knocking. I’ve only had it a month, but I do like it and haven’t had any trouble. Its great that it plug right into the modem so I can use it with multiple computers. It also seems to hibernate when it is left one so it is not running all day and i don’t have to keep turning it on and off during the day, I leave it on all day and shut it down at night. Bringing up the solution center on my computer shows me the level of each of the 4 ink cartridges. I haven’t had to replace ink yet, but it should save money having to change one color at a time instead of a tri color cartridge when only one color runs out.
