One month after purchase, the printer is failing to print. I don’t know if the paper thickness is the problem or what other issues caused the malfunction.
The printer is very good. It is a practical and efficient printer for a home computer.
This printer is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 and HP tech support say they do not plan to issue a driver that will be compatible.
A total piece of garbage. The printer was manufactured WITHOUT A DRIVER, making it virtually useless for printing documents. When I called HP’s service line, the bored individual on the phone could not have cared less about the problem. He said that HP was aware of the absence of drivers on all of these P1006 models but, at the moment, HP had more important matters to address. You can print out a webpage on this thing without a hitch. But if you want to print a document, you have to save it as a PDF and then print, leading to pointless duplications of every single document you produce. Moreover, the speed at which the printer spits out paper is in excess of the size of the paper tray. If you print a document with multiple pages, you have to stand by the printer and literally catch the pages as they come flying out of the printer as the paper tray is incapable of holding them. And to cap it all off, there are no instructions, either in a brochure with the printer or in the installation disc.
When printer was received, it was in horrible condition, with pieces of the plastic breaking off everywhere. Then, when plugged in and turned on, it made extremely loud noises, followed by smoke. Sent it back to Amazon and picked it up at Best Buy for $10 more. The printer is great for meeting simple needs, and prints fast, but it can’t boost the 1-star review I give to Amazon/UPS/HP for shipping.
