Don’t take my experience as representative.
I set my printer up and found that the print on one side faded away to invisibility. I went through all the cleaning procedures etc, also shaking the cartridges. Nothing changed. It looked like the ink wasn’t fusing.
I called tech support, which basically had me repeat everything I had already done plus a couple of more for good measure. I have no objection to that as many people don’t bother with trying to determine what is wrong. After an hour+ they diagnosed it as a bad fuser and offered to repair or replace. Frankly I was so stressed out that I just returned it.
I have used inkjets for years and was tired of the color drying up so I really wanted this to work. I personally know of several HP lasers which have been in use since the early to mid-nineties. I would note this printer felt very flimsy, which I a read in other reviews.
In the end I ordered an HP Officejet Pro 8000 which has very large ink tanks and supposedly costs less per page than a laser, and if I don’t like a can afford to just throw it away.
I was refunded my money on this item, because they sold out so quickly. At least the company called me and let me know what ws going on.
I am very pleased with this printer. It is fast, produce great prints, sharp color. It is worth the money I invested. I have had it for over a month and have not experienced jamming problems so far. I love this printer.
I bought the CP2025DN which has had problems with page cleaning incessantly since I bought it and the 2nd tray sucks paper in bunches. The problem is HP. I have emailed and called HP business customer service. Aside from the “help personal” having little command of the english language and even less knowledge about the printer, I have gotten nothing but the run around. This has been going on for 3 weeks now. The best HP has offered to do is “replace” my printer with a new one- however, after 2+ weeks of waiting on them and numerous emails to them, I get the email back that the printer is out of stock and no ETA is available. They offered to let me take a credit on a new machine and buy one from them. So much for my Amazon order, so much for the features I want versus don’t want. The only printer I could replace this with is an all-in-one which I don’t need, don’t want and there reps don’t even know the product line. I was told that my account person in Costa Rica would email/call me. I’ve been waiting for 5 days now for that call. DON”T BUY HP products. I had been a loyal 20 year user of HP products and have 5 different machines in my office. I will never, never buy HP again. Their customer service stinks, their follow-up pitiful and the knowledge of their offshore service representatives is laughable. I also think the CP2025dn is probably a lemon all the way around and HP is not making/importing them and they are not being honest with their customers.
I got this printer directly from HP as they offered a really good discount. My 10 year old Lexmark SC1275 was dying and needed several hundred dollars for new toner and drum, so buying a new printer would be a better alternative. After doing some research this HP model became its substitute.
Installation couldn’t be easier. The fact that my wife and daugther unpacked and installed the printer and drivers without my help tells you how easy it is to install. They just followed the pictures on quick install sheet, connected to network, installed drivers and 10 minutes later printer was cranking its first job. We have computers with XP, Vista, and 2003 server, printer works flawlessly with all of them.
When people evaluate printer parameters then must have a reference point, you can’t just say it’s loud or silent, good or bad quality, it’s all relative. Comparing this HP to older Lexmark, I can say that it’s much faster, less noisy, draws less current, print quality is way better, and it works flawlessly (no paper jams, no driver errors.) We have a number of bigger models of HP color laser printers at work and they are all very dependable, high quality machines. So there is a hope this model will also show good durability, time will tell. Comparing printouts from this HP to printers from other manufacturers in this price range, it’s obvious HP colors are closer to reality, more saturated, and print is more crisp. I haven’t seen any other color laser under 500, that can come close (I checked Brother, Konika, Richo, Samsung, Xerox). The down side, cost per page is some of the highest among other printers. With current HP toner prices on Amazon, the cost per page is 2.2c for 5% black and 13.5 cents per 20% cymk color page. In comparison, el cheapo Brother toner would run 20-30% less. It’s a tradeoff, cost vs quality. You decide what’s more important in your case.
