I wished to use this with the Linksys pps1uw usb print server. Could not get it to work. Received a message during install of the printserver stating not to use the epson spool manager. I was using windows 2000 and there is no epson spool manager program for 2000. Still waiting on both Epson and Linksys to return my email as both of there phone queuqes are a wast of time. If I can make it work I will repost so that others do not feel my pain.

This Epson 925 printer is the best I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned HP, Lexmark, and Compaq. This one is just the best. Easy, reliable, can use multiple types of digital camera cards, cheap ink refills and cartridges last a long time. I like it so much, that I bought a second one for my son. Highly recommend!!! Works great with XP Professional!

  3. Photo quality was very good to excellent. Overall, however, this printer was an incredible disappointment. When my Epson 750 started to go downhill after a few years I bought this for my department, thinking it would be a good replacement. Well it’s good when it prints which is about 30% of the time. 70% of the time, for no reason whatsoever, it would print 10-70% of the document and then simply stop — as if ordered to do so by some higher power. I have no idea why. Nothing in the manual explained this. I reinstalled the driver and other software dozens of times. Our computer techs at work could not figure it out. Advice from the Epson support staff suggested installing the ink monitor software which we did — none of this worked. Sometimes, after reinstalling the driver the printer would print 10 pages (of mostly image layout drafts) successfully then start to do its usual stopping in the middle of a document. What’s the point of owning something that does this?

The only reason I rated it 1 of 5 is that rating it below zero was not an option. I bought one of these disasters late fall of 2003. I bought it new not refurished. Now in Feb of 2004 it has died. It is the dorkiest printer I have ever seen. Even when it worked it printed several sheets at once and threw paper all over the floor. I ran out of color ink but still had black left. I only wanted black and white print but it would not print anything. Even if I switched the printer settings to black only it would print nothing. SO I went to buy new cartridges. By golly they were out of color. So I was stuck until I could find a store that had color. Changing the cartridges was dorky too. With HP printers, the process was obvious enough that I only need to read the instructions once. With the Epson I have to find the manual to find which button(s) to push to get it to move the print head out so I can swap cartridges. There are a number of unintuitive steps to the process. It seems to always be a half hour ordeal. Well, it is not a long process anymore. Now the “helpful” LCD display on the printer reads “General Error. See your printer documentation for information about clearing this error.” There is no information on clearing errors at all in the documentation. I plan to clear the error by clearing this waste of plastic right out of my home.

  5. I’ve owned this printer for about 3 years. I was so impressed with the quality of the photo prints that I had to have it! I always clean and align the heads before I use it. You really can only use Epson photo paper with it. I tried an off brand and what a mess! The ink just laid on top of the paper! I only print photos with it so it may be months between uses. The ink is too expensive to print documents and it really does a pretty crappy job on them. You definitely have to replace the black ink cartridge when it gets low or you get ugly black images in the dark areas of your photos. Luckily, Epson shows you where the ink levels are. I am currently looking at 12″ wide printers and Epson will be my printer of choice. We use our Epson C80 for our document printing and love it as well. We’ve had that one forever! We never have to clean the heads on it!
