I wish the previous review about the wrong part number being listed had posted *before* I ordered this printer. Oh well. I contacted Amazon to try to confirm if they would be sending the NX515. Amazon told me that they couldn’t tell until they actually shipped the wrong item and someone reported it. Yes, believe it or not (Crystal at customer support provided this bit of wisdom). Then she told me that actually as far as they were concerned there wasn’t anything wrong with the listing at this point. When I told her the wrong part number was listed she just started repeating standard party-line meaningless talk. You know what I mean. It’s the “wear them out with endless repetition of inane and unresponsive babbling” approach.

I finally got a supervisor (Jason) who wanted to repeat the same old party-line nonsense again. He told me I should cancel my order to avoid the possibility of them sending me the wrong printer (maybe if I never order from Amazon again I could completely avoid this situation…). I finally told him what I wanted was an email that said that if they sent me the wrong printer they would pay to ship it back and overnight me the *right* printer. He told me that he would send it after we got off the phone but I’ve heard that line too many times to believe it so I insisted that I would hold until I got the email. And, lo and behold, about 5 minutes later I got the email. And I also got the address for complaints for Amazon.

Mistakes happen but this kind of lousy customer service is either intentional or just plain incompetency. Either way, I am certainly going to be double-checking Amazon listing more carefully. And they’ve managed to debunk my sense that it’s worth paying slightly more to deal with an organization that won’t give me trouble if there’s a problem. At this point I’d have to say that Amazon service isn’t worth the premium price and if I’m going to get this kind of service I can get it from anywhere and generally for cheaper.

I really like this printer it was easy to install and so far so good. It has more plugins for every kind of accerory you can think of ! Just got it but I really do like it. Only they didn’t send a cord with is. I happened to have an extra plug.

If you want a printer that is noisy, shreds at least one sheet of paper every time you try and use it,and sucks ink like a sponge, this is your printer. Buy ANYTHING else on the market.

Epson ink cartriges last for about 10 pages(color). My old Canon lasted for about 40. This thing just loves to jam paper.

I have NEVER written a negative review on anything, but this dissappointed me so much.

  4. I ill say what I don-t like about this printer. That doesn’t mean that I hate it.

    1. Makes a lot of noise when you print in draft quality, in fact you can fell the desk moving with the printer.

    2. The copy function is not good, well is bad, you can choose between B&W and Color, but you cannot customize any other thing, like quality or size. Besides that, it takes FOREVER to make a copy, so if you are copying a book page you will have to hold the book for about 2 minutes to finish the scanning/printing.

    3. If you want to make more than one copy the machine will scan the document as many times as copies you want to make. If it takes around 2 minutes to make a single copy you will have to wait at least 20 minutes to get 10 copies, don’t try to do that with a heavy textbook.

    4. When printing in color, the quality is not that good, I have another Epson printer at my mom’s house and that one makes a lot better prints.

Other than that, if you want that printer for everyday printing jobs, scanning and copying once in a while, no pictures, and do not care about the noise, this printer will work for you.

This is the first Epson I’ve gotten since dot-matrix days, and it will be the last one I ever buy. From the first day I had it, it was a problem. The USB port was recessed so deeply, it was difficult to connect. It would print with a loud “clunk.” The paper feed guide was very difficult to move. Printing was slow, loud, and blurry. The printer buttons were anything but intuitive. Photo print quality was subpar. After six weeks it would only print with a blurry middle paragraph no matter what was being printed nor how much we tried to correct the head alignment.

At that point I went out and bought the Hewlett Packard F4480 that I should have bought to begin with. Picture quality and print are far better, smoother and quieter.

The Epson is now at the recycling center, not missed even a little bit.
