I don’t understand how people be giving favorable reviews for this printer. Buying this printer has been the absolute worst experiences I have had with a product. After successfully using three printers on my current Mac I still haven’t been able to print one print that has been even remotely successful. Printing from my Mac only lets me make print head alignments I can’t print from any of the applications. When this printer has been hooked up to a PC the prints come out terrible. They are cloudy and jagged looking.
The worst thing of is the amount of time I have spent on this. I just don’t have time to keep writing tech support about my problems. I have several jobs I am working on now and I have no additional time to keep working on this. I would like to just send the printer back and get on with my life.
UPDATE TO REVIEW:
I have had this printer for about a couple of months now after numerous emails to tech support and one hour plus long phone call I finally appear to be making some progress with my printer. After talking with tech support they did everything they could think of doing and then suggested that I completely wipe my hard drive and reinstall all my files. I am glad to say that so far things are beginning to look like they are working. I haven’t experimented with the printer very much but after I spend some time with it I will write a new review of my findings.
I am actually reviewing Amazon’s lack of complete information. The printer itself looks great. I was getting out my credit card…However, as I was about to buy this product, I thought I’d take a quick look at the Canon site. I was incensed to find that the printer ONLY works with VISTA!!! We need accurate info to make buying decisions. We aren’t mind readers. That infomation should have been upfront.
I apologize ahead of time if I just overlooked the information in the description…But I did read the Amazon info…twice, and nada.
I would echo all the comments on this site regarding the quality, noise, speed and size of this piece of equipment. What motivated me to write this review is to bring into question the claim that the printer is Mac compliant. All my photographs are in iPhoto and the software that comes with this printer (Easy-PhotoPrint EX) does not recognize the iPhoto library as being the main photo repository. After 2 days of believing I was an idiot I wrote to Canon support to ask them for help. They were very prompt in their reply, and told me very courteously that I wasn’t an idiot .. the software can’t/won’t map to the iPhoto library. I’m currently dragging photos to my desktop and having to print them from there .. quite a low tech solution methinks. Wouldn’t you have thought that some, if not the majority, of Mac users would have been using iPhoto to store their photos? So why not have your software map to it, especially as Canon state it’s Mac compliant (but not iPhoto compliant it seems).
The other point to mention when you fire up this software is that it can take up to 3 minutes to initially “find” your desktop. Plenty of time to make a pot of tea and take the dog for a short walk.
Would I still have bought this printer had I known this? I’m really not sure, the printed product is superb but I’m still a little miffed.
This is a Super Printer !!!!! I love the quality of pics and also ease of use…Awesome !!!!
This product is amazing, and it is allowing me the freedom to begin my photography career with no worries
