  1. I bought this machine and have been very happy with it, my previous ink jet printer from HP was noisier and a lot more expensive in ink since HP saw fit to not let you refil their cartridges and if you did refil their cartridges with other ink, or purchased any ink cartridge besides HP, their print head would clog up and stop working. Also there is no moving print heads as on inkjets so no need to park the printheads as what happened to my previous printer, the carriage print head couldn’t park as something inside the machine caused it to jam and since I couldn’t find out what caused the problem I had to purchase a new machine. So far I have had this machine over two months and printed over 1000 pages with it with no problems. It is the fastest scanner and printer I have ever owned. Setting up the network was a snap and as the sign says on the front of the machine, the Color Laser Solution Ideal for Your business. The best all-in-one I have ever owned. Since the parts are so expensive though, it might be cheaper to keep purchasing new all in ones if it needs parts since this all in one has dropped in price. I highly recommend this all in one as far as I can see it does what it advertises to my complete satisfaction so far.

I picked my machine up second hand from an out of business office and haven’t had any complaints.

It does take an interval of time to commence printing but when it starts, the prints come right out within a very short time between each. I use mine at home for just home use so I’m not into the worry about replacing major parts. I’ll dump it and pick up another used machine when the time comes that it goes tango uniform. I paid next to nothing for it and it would be insane to put hundreds into replacemente parts. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts and pray that it will serve me well for a few years anyway at the low rate I use it. It scans beautifully, and the print quality is as good as I could expect. This is the third laser, first color laser I’ve gotten for next to nothing at yard sales and I won’t ever be found dead at an office supply store. All three were fully operational and no problems with any of them. Two were sold, I’m hanging onto this one till it croaks. I’d urge people to shop Amazon.com for used machines dirt cheap whenever they can if they cannot find one at a local yard sale.

I have owned this printer for 2-3 years. No problems to date. Works perfect on my Mac and home network. Still with original out of the box toner cartridges. Looking for a new waste toner pack (guess that means I have hit the 12000 page mark) and found these reviews. Had no idea replacement parts (aside from the WT-pack -$20 with shipping) were so expensive. I guess in 2-3 years when I hit the 30,000 page mark I’ll just get a new printer rather than fork out the dough for the expensive replacements. Advances in technology should justify the upgrade by then.

  4. I’ve been using this in my home office (I’m in the PR, design, multimedia biz, clearing six figures) for two years with never a single problem; great network printer, faxing, copying, still on original set of toner and OPC after printing tens of thousands of pages – only consumable other than paper has been the empty toner catch recepticle which came up with error once it was full. Great color, fantastic printing on 28-lb laser paper (hint: if you use paper found at Kmart, your printer will die; use good paper just like good gas in your car — duh!). Power saver feature is good. Software works great – I can fax from MS Word, and I can print wirelessly from my MacPro Notebook in living room (printer connected to FIOS wireless router). When it dies, I’ll buy another one. Considering 10 years ago my HP Color Laser printer was $5,000 and this does a better job, never jams, and does Postscript, for under $500 it’s a steal (and I mean it’s a steal of a deal…). Buy it local and pickup if you can, since it seems like those with problems had it badly shipped with cheapo (dropkick) shippers. PC magazine has rated it very highly, as have many online sites. I’ve been using laser printers since 1987, and this is the best one I’ve ever had!

I have read several postings that criticized Brother’s Technical Support. I just got off a 29 minute phone call with their phone support and was very pleased with the outcome. I have owned the Brother MFC-9420CN Network-Ready Color Laser Flatbed MFC for over two years and am very pleased with the performance. I would recommend this Multi Function unit for the small/in-home business application.
